A few more photos

I just downloaded a few photos from my phone that were taken while I was in Colorado.

The elk were everywhere around Estes Park. Here are a couple lounging in a field.

Me next to a waterfall in the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Brother Walt near the same spot.

Walt and maryann are doing fine. It's a beautiful spot they live in, surrounded by the Rockies. I was able to spend a day with them around my work responsibilities. I was able to catch a couple of trout and hook several others. Walt and I drove into the National park and went to a couple of high mountain lakes. There was still a few feet of snow when we got up around 9000 ft.

We plan to go to Atlanta next weekend to visit friends, and will spend the 4th at home. Oh yeah. . .it's HOT down here!

Just back

Laurie and I just returned from a few days traveling. I had a business trip to the Gulf coast, so Laurie went along. We started in Dothan, Alabama so I could meet with a contractor we use for modular housing projects. Then it was on to Slidell, Louisiana to meet a staff member and look at a couple of projects, then we spent a few hours in the French Quarter of New Orleans since we were close. We drove along US 10 to Destin, Florida where we spent the night, and today we drove Hwy 98 through Mexico Beach, Port St. Joseph, Appalachicola, and home.

A French Quarter alley way.

Dinner at a beachfront restaurant last night.

A stroll on Mexico beach.

Lazy Day

We're having a lazy Saturday. It's about 98 degrees this afternoon, so Laurie is napping while I watch golf on tv. I played 18 holes this morning with my usual Saturday group. . .did ok, but not great. We have some pop up rain showers coming in, and they are welcome. It has been so dry here, but we have been getting a little rain of late.

This is a picture from a recent trip to Salt Lake City. What a beautiful spot.

This is a sunset picture from a visit to sister Karen's place in Venice, Florida while down that way on business. We always have a great time when visiting her.

Gulf coast next week

Looks like I will be going to Mississippi and Louisiana next week for a few days. I need to meet with some staff and visit a couple of projects there. Laurie will probably go along.

We went to a great party down here this past Sunday. It was an Asian dinner cooked by my Indonesian staff member. MMM mMM Good!! There was about 12 of us, including my former boss. It was the first time I spent time with him as a friend and not a supervisor. It was great.

This is Kris Wangsadiputra who threw the party when we were in India:

The orange and red on our foreheads was the blessing from the Indian families as we entered the build on the first day. The flowers are like marigolds for good luck.

Blogging Skills are Rusty

Obviously my blogging skills are rusty based on yesterday's post. I need to work on my formatting, especially around photos.

A new post-can you believe it??

Hello faithful blog checkers. It has been way too long since I have updated this blog. I am going to try to be more faithful going forward.

Let me start by posting a few pics from recent adventures:

This is Laurie in front of the house she helped build at the Jimmy Carter Work Project in India last October.

This is a street scene in San Juan, Costa Rica where we held our International Appropriate Technology Conference last January.

And this is the Americus hospital after the tornados hit this spring.

I know this is short, but I will add another post soon. Keep the faith! Mark
