Konnichiwa!

As promised, here are some photos of Little Tokyo along with other places we have explored recently. While walking around Japan town, we learned the hard way that there is no free parking anywhere in this city. Yes, our new hometown welcomed us with a $70.00 gift-one that we have to pay-in the form of a parking ticket. Figuring out all of the signs and rules, which vary from city to city, is very hard. We thought we were ok, but not so. Someone finally said that if you are not feeding a meter or paying an attendant, expect a ticket. Oh well, part of the learning curve I guess.
Here is a shot inside of one of the plazas where the streets are lined with shops, restaurants and stores selling Japanese food and products. Those of you who know us well know that we were in heaven!
This is a partial view of the LA skyline from Little Tokyo. The white tower in front is the original city hall.Last Sunday evening we decided to visit Hermosa Beach, and the "Taste of Hermosa Beach" was going on. Area restaurants set up tents and give samples of their fare, plus live music and lots of other events were going on. We walked the "strand" for a few miles, stopped just after sunset and enjoyed a latte at a sidewalk cafe, and even strolled after dark for a bit.
This is Hermosa Beach from the pier that juts out several hundred feet into the ocean. The pier is always lined with fisherman, usually with a fair catch. I am always amazed at SoCal (Southern California) beaches for how wide and open they are.
These guys are always on the lookout for tidbits. This one was quite pissed that I didn't reward him for posing.
And the sun sets on yet another day in paradise, as well as on this post. Take care until next time, and don't forget to encourage me with comments! I check for them every single day.
